R410A Phase-Out Singapore
R410a phase-out Singapore – The NEA is in the process of phasing out RAC equipment that makes use of climate-unfriendly refrigerants with high GWP ratings, beginning with the models that have alternatives that are more friendly to the environment. The following measures will come into effect from 1 October 2022 onwards:
Refrigerant GWP Limit On Regulated Goods
Regulated goods* such as air-conditioner’s prescribed GWP limit is 750. In other words, any GWP rating higher than 750 will banned, below are the details for :
- Single-phase non-ducted room air-conditioner (split type (inverter)) with cooling capacity of 17.6 kW or lower that is not a single-phase variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air-conditioner
- Single-phase non-ducted room air-conditioner (split type (non-inverter)) with cooling capacity of 17.6 kW or lower
*Goods supplied before 1 October 2022 will not be affected.
Mandatory Training & Certifications
Companies carrying out installation, maintenance and decommissioning of household air-conditioners are encouraged to send their technicians for training and certification. Consumers are also encouraged to request for certified technicians to install and service their air-conditioners, as part of taking climate action at the individual level, to reduce the likelihood of HFC refrigerant emissions into the atmosphere.
